“I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains.” ~Anne Frank
Let the beauty of the world heal you because the world is crying out in despair asking you to be its healer.
In the face of so much ugliness, beauty is resistance. Noticing, appreciating and creating beauty doesn’t ignore the ugly realities of life. Beauty emboldens us to stare in the face of the ugliness of violence, hate and despair saying, “You’re not winning today. Not today.”
In a time of ugliness, we can choose to create something beautiful like a poem, a painting, a prayer or one peaceful moment; or we can plant something like a flower, a kind word or a random act of kindness.
In a time of despair, we can choose to do one thing today to make the world a better, kinder and more just place. It doesn’t have to be big. Choose one act today that keeps your heart tender when the world is doing its best to lure you into responding to the ugliness with more ugliness.
Beauty is God’s way of remaining obvious. Beauty is a homecoming returning us to the beauty within us. Look for beauty today. Appreciate beauty. Create beauty. Live in a way that affirms, preserves and protects beauty. See beauty in others. Help people see the beauty in themselves.
Because the beautiful truth is that beauty attracts more beauty.
